National Schoolboys Cup Quarter-FinalThe Swilly Rovers U-16 side is now just 90 minutes away from a place in the national semi-finals of the Schoolboys Cup. A win for Jim McCahill’s side this Sunday over Tubbercurry in Ramelton (kick-off 2.00) will see Swilly into the last four of this prestigious competition with the bonus of home advantage for that game as well.Confirmation that the game was going ahead only came through on Wednesday morning from the FAI after Tubbercurry had initially sought a postponement of Sunday’s match. “We were caught a little bit by surprise on Wednesday morning with the news from the FAI because we thought the game was not going ahead on Sunday. But at the same time we are ready to go” McCahill said.Swilly are boosted by the news that their international underage player Jordan Toland has recently returned to training after a long lay-off with injury. Tolan has not featured in the current cup run to date. It’s the biggest underage match in Ramelton for some years and the home side should go into the game with some confidence after a couple of excellent 2-1 victories in the previous two rounds over Broadford (Dublin) and Arklow Town (Wicklow) respectively.“Hopefully it will be a great day for the Swilly Rovers Club and this is certainly the biggest game of the boys careers so far” McCahill said. The players have put in a huge effort all season and so also has the backroom team including Kieran ‘Freddie’ Boyle, Seanie Mooney, Denis McHugh and Joe McLaughlin. All roads lead to Swilly Park on Sunday and a big crowd expected to cheer on the U-16s. The game kicks-off at 2.00. The Swilly panel for Sunday includes – Caolan Bolton, Dominick Hull, Nathan McElwaine, Dylan Quinn, Kyle Burke, James McCahill, Dylan Hegarty, Pauric Ferry, Brandon Toye, Darragh Black, Ronan Curtis, Conor McLaughlin, Vincent Pyper, Adam Serrena, Shay Durning, Oran Coll, Gavin Grier, Jordan Toland, Shane Coyle, Jason McCahill, Duncan Patterson, Nisha Cullen, Finnian Ferry.
