first_imgVodafone customers in The Rosses have branded the company ‘completely useless’ as the on-going issues regarding mobile coverage in the area continues to worsen.Angry customers have said they’re now absolutely fed up with the coverage issues and said they’re tired of receiving the same old rhetoric from customer service staff. The issues for the majority of customers experiencing problems began around December. However, since the turn of the year the situation has increasingly deteriorated so much so that some customers have gone days without having any mobile coverage at all.The broadband and landline connection is described as being very good in the area, but those using Vodafone as their mobile network say the situation isn’t tolerable anymore. We received several e-mails over the last number of days from Donegal Daily readers in the area who have contacted the company via their landline to lodge complaints. They’ve told us that the Vodafone customer service staff tell them the issue will be resolved soon and the engineers are working hard to resolve the problem. One customer was told to put on 2G and that will sort the problem for them and their service will return to normal.“We’re fed up getting the same rhetoric from the customer service team giving us a whole host of excuses as to what the problem is.“It’s pretty clear they haven’t a clue what’s the problem and this has been going on now for four months, they’re completely useless.“We’re getting fed the same lines over and over again, the engineers are working very hard to fix the coverage issues and make improvements to it in the area, but it’s all just waffle.“I was told to turn on my 2G and that would alleviate the problems I’ve encountered, well it didn’t. “Maybe by making the issue public they may be prompted into doing something about it for a change and sort it out once and for all. It’s believed customers from Burtonport, Dungloe, Gweedore, Kincasslagh and Maghery have been affected by the issue.COMPLETELY USELESS – ROSSES VERDICT ON VODAFONE MOBILE COVERAGE was last modified: April 10th, 2015 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:BusinessFeaturesMobile CoveragenewsVodafonelast_img read more

first_img27 May 2015The percentage of households in South Africa without access to an improved source of sanitation has decreased consistently over the past decade, according to Statistics South Africa (Stats SA).Its latest General Household Survey (GHS) found that the percentage of households with access to improved sanitation, that is flush toilets or pit toilets with ventilation pipes, had increased consistently from 62.3% in 2002 to 79.5% in 2014. At the same, the percentage of households without access to any sanitation facilities, or who were still using a bucket, declined from 12.3% in 2002 to 4.9% in 2014.The study found that households that shared sanitation facilities considered poor lighting (25.9%) and poor hygiene (23.7%) as the main problems, followed by physical safety (19.5%).The GHS has been conducted each year since 2002. It measures changes in the living conditions of South African households, determining household access to various services and amenities, such as basic services, food, health care and medical aid.Fewer will pay for servicesThe 2014 release shows that 13.2 million (85.9%) households had access to piped water in 2014 compared to 9.4 million (79.9%) in 2005.However, households seem to grow less satisfied with the service, as only 61.4% of households in 2014 indicated that they experienced “good” quality service, compared to 76.4% of households in 2005. The percentage of households that indicated they would pay for the water they received declined from 61.9% in 2005 to 43.7% in 2014.Having access to energy for cooking, heating and lighting is crucial. The survey found that the percentage of households connected to an electricity supply from the mains had increased consistently from 77.1% in 2002 to 86% in 2014. Electricity is, however, not always affordable as 10% of households nationally, and 39.4% in Limpopo, still used wood for cooking since it was cheaper and more readily available. The percentage of households that experienced power interruptions in the six months before the survey increased to 18.2%.In terms of refuse removal, while the percentage of households whose refuse is removed at least once a week has increased from 56.7% in 2002 to 63.8% in 2014, large differences exist between urban and rural areas. Whereas 88.6% of households in metros, and 84.1% of households in urban areas have their rubbish removed once a week, 90% of rural households either have no refuse dumps or have to create their own.Source: Statistics South Africalast_img read more

first_img Continue Reading Previous AAEON appoints new general manager for EuropeNext Using auto-zero calibration to ensure pressure-sensor accuracy Combining the flexibility of digital power with the responsiveness of analog algorithms, STMicroelectronics’ STNRGPF12 dual-channel interleaved boost-PFC controller is easily configured and optimized using the Company’s eDesignSuite software. Suited to applications over 600W, the STNRGPF12 enhances efficiency and reliability in equipment as diverse as industrial motor controls, charging stations, uninterruptable power supplies, 4G and 5G base stations, welding machines, telecom switches, home appliances, and data-center power supplies. The STNRGPF12 operates in continuous-conduction mode (CCM) at fixed frequency with average-current-mode control. The best of both digital and analog worlds meets in the STNRGPF12’s inner and outer control loops. The inner current loop utilizes a hardware analog Proportional-Integral (PI) compensator, while the outer voltage loop is performed by a digital PI controller with fast dynamic response. This enables the STNRGPF12 to manage cascaded control of the voltage and current loops to regulate the output voltage by acting on the total average inductor current.Rich feature integration includes digital inrush-current limiting, which leverages silicon controlled rectifiers (SCR) in the high-side switching circuitry to facilitate soft-start management and enhance system robustness. The STNRGPF12 also supports load feed-forward, current balancing, phase shedding, and fan control. An integrated UART allows access to non-volatile memory for user configuration of PFC parameters to meet specific application needs and permits monitoring of parameters in the field.Users can unleash the maximum potential of the STNRGPF12 by taking advantage of ST’s extensive ecosystem, which includes the STEVAL-IPFC12V1 dual-channel 2kW interleaved PFC reference design, as well as the configuration software, to jump-start their designs.Share this:TwitterFacebookLinkedInMoreRedditTumblrPinterestWhatsAppSkypePocketTelegram Tags: Chips & Components last_img read more
