first_imgCompetition in the Berger Elite League returns tomorrow at the Leila Robinson Courts with a double-header starting with the Manchester Spurs taking on joint leader St. Catherine Racers at 6 p.m.  The Spurs with four points have only played two matches compared to the Racers’ (9 points) four. The Spurs will go into the game with one win under their belt, while the Racers have won three matches to date. The other match will be played between the other team at the top of the standings, St. Ann Orchids and defending champions Clarendon Gaters. The Gaters are yet to win a match, having lost all four matches played so far. It will be a tough match for them as the Orchids are stacked with national players and they have been playing well, while losing their only match to St. James Sharpes, who are on seven points and lie in third place. Some of the players, who will be on court today include former national team caption Nicole Aiken-Pinnock for the Gaters; Khadijah Williams for the Racers; Nicole Dixon for the Spurs and Shanice Beckford, Staceyann Facey, Althea Byfield and Simone Forbes for the Orchids. The other teams in the eight-team competition are Kingston Humming Birds (2014 winners), St. James Sharpes, Under-21 Shiners and the Under-21 Suns.last_img read more
