ARCADIA, California (AP): Iliad won the $200,000 San Vicente Stakes by 31/2 lengths Sunday at Santa Anita. Ridden by Flavien Prat, Iliad ran seven furlongs in 1:21.62 in the Grade 2 event. The 3-year-old horse had been idle since winning his first career race on December 18. Prat was subbing for Rafael Bejarano, who was excused from riding after an accident in last Saturday’s final race. Iliad was trained by Bob Baffert in his first two starts before Doug O’Neill took over. The victory, worth $120,000, increased Iliad’s career earnings to $147,345, with two wins in three starts. “He’s a really nice horse, he has a lot of class,” said O’Neill, who began training for Shah in late December. Owner Kaleem Shah said Iliad would be pointed toward the San Felipe Stakes on March 11 and possibly the $1 million Santa Anita Derby on April 8.
